Vice President, Technology

 

Location: Cleveland, Ohio

Reporting to the CEO, the Vice President, Technology will establish the company’s technology product, application and infrastructure strategy and technical vision. This role is responsible for developing a strategic technology roadmap in collaboration with the senior leadership team and will be responsible for the close program management of all projects and initiatives dictated by those strategic plans. The role is also responsible for building a secure, resilient and salable infrastructure to support the organization. This includes seamlessly integrating and automating data transfer between chosen operational platforms such as salesforce.com, WorkFront, and Sage Intacct.  The role will also be responsible for innovations in all forms of technology across the business. 

 

Tasks will include prioritization of projects/initiatives, recruiting/hiring, vendor negotiations and contracting, talent development, architectural design input and approval, budgeting and forecasting of IT spend (including capital and capitalization), and escalation point for the tech and support teams.  The successful incumbent will have the ability to oversee all technical functions of the business and provide guidance and communication that will allow the team to collaborate and see the big picture of the overall technology plan.

 

The VP, Technology must also work closely with the senior leadership team to understand the needs of the business and external customers and lead the technological strategy of the organization.  The incumbent of this role must be a strategic thinker, an effective communicator, and an expert in technological development.

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall IT governance for the organization, in collaboration with the CEO and a future product management board (PMB) that will be established by the VP.

  • Plan, implement, manage and monitor changes in the overall IT infrastructure, customized applications, and any integrations between package/in-house applications.

  • Ensure the ViewPoint product provides customers the proper view into all the SEAM Group Products and Services conducted for each customer, with an appropriate level of detail, and features that make ViewPoint both “sticky” for the customer, but also helpful to making the customers job simpler or more efficient.

  • Ensure a robust mobile field technician product(s) is designed and delivered that supports every SEAM Group product line information gathering requirements, while ensuring good UI/UX experience for the field technician.

  • Improve efficiency by deploying integrations or automation to improve the ability to share data between SEAM Group package applications and each other, or between package applications and SEAM Group bespoke applications.

  • Build a data warehouse with time-series data that supports delivering executive reporting, dashboards and analytics using off the shelf tools like Microsoft Power BI.

  • Maintain a customer-focused outlook and aid in the delivering of IT projects to the market.

  • Ensure the company’s technological resources are aligned with the short and long-term goals of the business.

  • Hire and retain personnel to manage infrastructure, applications development, IT management, and testing.

  • Serve as the top escalation point for any issues/outages that are unable to be resolved quickly by the team, and oversee in any resolution, root-cause analysis and remediation.

  • Communicate with senior SEAM Group management and the SEAM Group Board of Directors on information technology plans, results, prioritization and risks.

  • Manage all the IT staff, which includes hiring, training, coaching, developing, guiding and discipline.

  • Actively manage risk mitigation plans to ensure both Company Security and Project Deadlines are appropriately managed and foreseen problems minimized.

  • Help the IT organization mature their development and testing procedures, moving towards a Continuous Integration/Continuous Development (CI/CD) environment for each customized application development platform.

  • Document and enforce IT policies and procedures, utilizing best practices for all infrastructure, applications, integrations, architecture and maintenance/change control.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to lead multiple projects across applications development, vendor implementations and infrastructure.

  • Strong business experience gaining executive/board buy-in to strategies, priorities, budget and risk mitigation plans.

  • Proven experience implementing process improvement, efficiencies and CI/CD environments.

  • Experience creating and managing a financial budget with the ability to forecast the financial needs of the department.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science or a related field required; MBA preferred.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience within IT function, across both infrastructure and applications development.  Emphasis on web and mobile applications development and integration architectures.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Ability to travel as needed
